Hello everyone,

We're experiencing another cold front in south Florida right now. I guess I shouldn't complain, we're still warmer than the rest of the USA, but I moved down here 20 years ago to get away from the cold. It's almost 10 AM and it's warmed up to a balmy 48 degrees, with winds at 15 MPH - BRRRRRR!

I'm supposed to do a 45 mile bike ride with my On Your Mark cycle team on Saturday, but it's only supposed to be around 38 degrees on Saturday morning. The warm, fuzzy blanket is looking mighty appealing!

I have ignored two of my blogs on the Orble.com network, to the point they were listed on the inactive blog list - YIKES! I updated all of my account information last week, and plan on posting to my I Love Herbs and The Pagan Path blogs on at least a weekly basis from now on.

Lynn Smythe is Running A1A Marathon

Good morning,

On Sunday I'll be running the half marathon at the A1A Marathon in Ft. Lauderdale. This years medal is really cool - it's a 3D shell medal, which opens up and shows the details of the race. This is the 5th year anniversary of the A1A Marathon. This is a local race for me, Ft. Lauderdale is only about 1/2 hour from my house. The weather forecast is for it to be 60 degrees on Sunday morning, pretty nice - south Florida has been experiencing a cold spell, but 60 degrees is the perfect temperature for running a half marathon.

Author Lynn Smythe, at the 8th Annual Butterfly Run

Hello everyone,

My husband and I participated in our first race for the 2010 season on Sunday, February 8. We ran in the 8th annual Butterfly Run, which took place at Sabal Pines Park in Coconut Creek, Florida. This was the first time my husband raced at this distance, 5k, or 3.1 miles. He finished in a time of 33:24, and was 13 out of 20 in his age group (50-54). This was my second 5k race, and I had a PR finish time (personal record). I finished in a time of 28:47, which was good enough for 5 out of 35 in my age group (45-49). Pretty cool!

Freezing in Florida

I moved down to Florida, from upstate NY, to get away from the cold weather. We've been experiencing a bit of cold weather down here for the past week. Temperatures in the low 20's through 30's making all the farmer's a bit nervous. Nice change from typical heat/hummidity, but too cold to want to go for a bike ride or run. Should be warming up to high 60's, low 70's in another day or too - YEAH!!!!

Good morning,

We are experiencing a cold front down here in south Florida. It got down to 35 degrees last night. Just a tad bit colder than we're used to. Normally in the 60's this time of year. I'm originally from upstate NY (born in Rochester, moved to Lake Placid when I was 11), so I should be used to cold weather. But I've been in Florida 20 years, so I've lost my tolerance for anything below 50! Actually it's a nice change of pace, at least we're not melting in the heat as usual.
